How Little Shove came to be
Lesley Magill, Founder & Chief Mentor at Little Shove mentoring & moving
At the age of 43, I took a giant leap into the unknown to figure out what I really wanted to do with my life. I walked away from 23 years in the corporate world where I worked in senior management roles for well-known companies across various industries. I had given my all in dream roles that brought major events, projects and premium travel experiences to life.
Despite having some of the most incredible experiences, it was time for change. I knew there was something else I needed to do that was aligned with who I really am and what I really want… I just had to figure out what.
After months of soul-searching and more ups, downs, and round ‘n rounds than I could ever have imagined, Little Shove was born. I did it the hard way, but it was the process that I developed as I went through this journey that brought me to this point.
I am now where I am supposed to be, doing what I’m meant to be doing and in doing so, am helping others.
Let me give you the little shove you need.

Why Little Shove?
“I believe my purpose is to inspire and be inspired, to live my best life and in doing so help others live theirs. I want to prove to myself something that I have always believed in: if we live our lives in service to our purpose, we will be deeply fulfilled, love our work and live our best life.”
The definition of mentoring is using your professional and personal life experience to help others; and that’s precisely what I do.
In my professional life, I learnt everything from the ground up in start-up roles in a range of industries, yet thrived in each role.
Despite starting out with a Science Degree majoring in Biology, I never used it. My path was interesting, varied and one that I couldn’t have scripted. From the start-up of Tour Down Under and the Adelaide 500 at Australian Major Events (South Australian Tourism Commission), to living and teaching in Italy, to scheduling major projects and heading up Comms at ElectraNet, to project work while on maternity leave, to heading up major events at the newly developed Adelaide Oval, to creating new premium travel experiences at Journey Beyond and now running my own business, I have seen, experienced and learnt a lot.
Mentoring enables me to use my insights, experience and knowledge to help you.
Over the years, I enjoyed mentoring and training colleagues, public speaking, sharing my career journey through educational programs and helping workmates find the courage to make their own career changes. My favourite thing about all of my jobs was always the people and the teams.
In my personal life, I’ve experienced some of the highest of highs and lowest of lows and have supported friends, family and colleagues through their best and worst moments too.
I’m a communicator, a connector, a motivator and an inspirer. I am a nature lover, hiker and trail runner and I know how beneficial time spent moving in nature is for our minds, bodies and souls. The best moments of inspiration, reflection and healing happen when I’m out on the trails - my happy place.
It would be my honour to help you rediscover and value your true self, move positively through change in your life, reconnect with nature and movement, unlock your potential and move towards purpose, passion and fulfilment in your life.
I believe we often know deep-down what we need but sometimes it takes the right person at the right time to help us unlock those answers and set us on the right path… and sometimes we all need a little shove.
